Producer – Drama School Mumbai & Tamasha Foundation
Date- 4 Aug 7:00 p.m.
Venue- Shriram Lagoo Rang Awakash, Pune
Ticket – https://ticketkhidakee.com/mittikigaadi
Synopsis :
Mitti ki Gaadi (The Little Clay Cart) is an ensemble contemporary theatre piece based on the 3rd century Sanskrit classic Mricchakatika by Shudraka. The musical throws light on various socio-economic and political circumstances in the ancient city Ujjaini, governed by a fascistruler. A city at the brink of an uprising. Tied together by the throbbing love story of Vasantsena, a famous courtesan and Charudutt, an impoverished Brahmin merchant, the play makes a conscious attempt to shift gaze to the common people around these two characters – slaves, gamblers, prostitutes, thieves, the oppressed, the outliers. The play traces the journeys of these small characters as they occupy centre stage and drive their mitti ki gaadi to bring about a mass revolution.

Synopsis :
Asymptomatic is a cocktail of comedy, tragedy, farce, dance, stand up, theatre all rolled into one.
And like a cocktail, it has a particular effect on whoever watches it. Who among us has never faced rejection? Whether for a job, a programme, a relationship…
The piece tells the story of an artist hungry for success, and rebuffed at every turn. What happens to a person who needs to constantly prove themselves, prove their worth?
A solo performance, Asymptomatic is a hard look at the power systems that largely govern who will succeed and who will not, presented with bold – and funny – irreverence.

While it is so, it is also a foray into the world of an artist, where art, its subjects and the surrounding social perspectives collide to produce more shades of grey than the artist herself imagined. As the principle of reflection of light works, the play describes the beauty of how the artist and her work can reflect a wide array of thoughts in a viewers mind. This collision of perspectives forms various shades of grey of which maybe the artist himelf is not much aware of. The play also highlights the various socio-political issues that have an impact in this game of perspectives

Synopsis : In MAHADEVBHAI (1892 – 1942), the character that occupies centre stage is Mahadev Desai, secretary, and onlooker to Mahatma Gandhi. The play is based on the daily diary that Mahadevbhai maintained, in which he jotted down the innumerable letters to and by Gandhiji, as well as conversations and banter, lectures, and discourses.
The form chosen is of lively storytelling, interspersed with humour, as one actor plays out various historical characters like Gandhiji, Mahadevbhai, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, and Dr B R Ambedkar, among others.
The play attempts to understand the thoughts and principles that Gandhiji stood for, principles that are even more relevant in today’s world: non-violence, economic processes that favour the poorest of the poor, religious tolerance, removal of untouchability & discrimination, the status of women.
Mahadevbhai (1892-1942) attempts to remind us of the times that were, through a performance that is as captivating and charismatic as the men and women themselves. It is a reminder of a healthy tradition that is slowly being obliterated by the devices of deep hatred and prejudice.

Synopsis : This production expresses the injustice, brutality and horror faced by five central female figures in mythology through the voice of their ‘vastras’ (clothes). While Sita’s vastra always kept changing as she readily obeyed her husband, Draupadi’s dignity wasn’t saved even with an unending brocaded saree that kept wrapping her body in the court of Duryodhan. Ahilya’s vastra was fooled along with Ahilya leading to her being unjustly turned into a rock and Shoorpanakha was a content demoness living in rags in the forest who fell into a trap with the desire for a vastra. Ultimately, Vedavati was raped by Raavan, and her pure white vastra helplessly watched and then burned, as Vedavati immolated herself. Every woman was wrongly treated under the façade of patriarchy which the present generation shrewdly questions. Because even though these stories are of mythological women, they echo the incidences, arguments and stories of hundreds of women existing today.

Synopsis : 1990 transformed the technological, social, political, economic and mental states of people. People were suddenly old and outdated for the world they lived in. Adaptation brought huge lifestyle
changes to the people. Driven by greed, a luxurious lifestyle became of utmost importance. On top of that, social image, relations with colleagues and authorities, family and social status caused emotions like Resistance, Rebellion, Love, Anger and Greed to pile up in the mind. These are ignored and covered up by immersing oneself into work and keeping busy.
The ever filling balloon of these emotions should be pricked by the needle of resistance but that seems out of hand. Even needles have no point these days! Blunt needles keep bothering us, like our inability to take action. This is the discomfort of a man within four boundaries. He himself creates these boundaries and he seeks to break free of them, throughout his life. The solo, ‘Farach Tochlay’ explores this game between resistance and restriction.

Without a single spoken word, Dumb Indignation unravels a world where women are treated as disposable, their voices drowned out, their bodies policed, and their autonomy denied. The protagonist—silent yet searing in her struggle—fights against oppression, judgment, and violence, forcing us to witness the pain we often choose to ignore.A Director’s Vision, A Collective Truth- This 50-minute performance is not just storytelling—it is a protest, an awakening, and a demand for change. Rooted in Goan sacred and ritualistic performance traditions, fused with the haunting strains of a live violin, and carried by raw, immersive movement, Dumb Indignation is a punch to the conscience. The silence is deafening because it mirrors the reality of countless women who are unheard, unseen, and unprotected.
