pioneer among India’s multi-venue and multi-genre cultural organizations, we take pride in being the custodians of advancing the dynamic and prolific artistic legacy of Maharashtra.
In 1965 the visionary minds of –Jyotsna Bhole, Yamutai Kirloskar, Bhausaheb Damle, and Dr. Waman Pabalkar recognized the need for a robust platform to cater to performing arts like Drama, Dance, Music and Visual arts and established Maharashtra Cultural Centre. The work of these legends was taken forward by eminent artists like Padma Bhushan Satyadev Dubey, Padma Vibhushan S H Raza, Shama Bhate, and Padma Shree Dr. Mohan Agashe and Sudarshan Rangamancha was formed.
Recognizing the need for a vibrant platform in the Performing Arts domain, these legends from diverse fields contributed to the iconic stature we hold today.
It is with the mentorship of such eminent personalities, that we provide a dynamic platform that caters to both seasoned connoisseurs as well as budding talents in the realm of Performing and Visual Arts.
Sudarshan Rangmanch
Recognizing the scarcity of accessible spaces for amateur and experimental theatre during Pune’s challenging times in 2002, we conceived the intimate and versatile ‘Sudarshan Rangamanch, theatre nestled in the heart of the city. This establishment
landmarked the rise of Experimental Theatre, becoming a vibrant hub for diverse artistic activities.
Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha
Our commitment to growth and evolution led us to build ‘Jyotsna Bhole Sabhagruha’, a spacious venue adorned with rehearsal halls. This space serves as a tribute to our founder and symbolizes our dedication to nurturing the performing arts community.
SHreeram Lagoo Rang-Avakash
Shreeram Lagoo Rang-Avakash stands as a vibrant initiative by the Maharashtra Cultural Centre, dedicated to elevating Indian Theatre to new heights. This dynamic space celebrates the fluidity of performance, fostering an environment that encourages experimentation beyond conventional methods. Specifically designed to seamlessly evolve into immersive experiences and interactive installations, the venue extends its embrace to traditional performances across diverse art forms.
By delving into innovative stage designs and layouts, our goal is to dissolve boundaries, empowering performers to embark on daring experiments while offering the audience an array of thrilling experiences.
